Looking for legal pointers on how to protect your writing that you have published through social media or blogs? Or, are you worried that you might have misused writings of others?

Today’s guests share their unique perspectives on how to promote yourself, but protect your writing at the same time. Dr. Tim Langley, a chiropractor in Marietta, GA blogs to share success stories about his clients when they have improved or re-established their health. Dr. Tim’s writing style generates an image of the “old, family doctor” who always had time to talk with each patient. His blog promotes his chiropractic practice, but occasionally he draws upon his banking and real estate background to share his views on the economy.

Charles Forlida is a member of the law firm of Miller & Martin PLLC in Atlanta. Charles concentrates his law practice in the areas of trademarks, patents, copyrights, and intellectual property. Charles will share pertinent legal pointers that all writers should know about protecting your “property.” Business leaders and entrepreneurs know the importance of having legal counsel for their business endeavors.

The Courage to Change Careers and Transform One’s Life

Write That Second Book!

Perhaps writing more than one book could enhance your business or personal reputation. It could open the door to opportunity within your field or even create conversation. Most business leaders and entrepreneurs are content when they write and publish their one book about their expertise and insights. Think about this: writing multiple books, or publishing a second edition could possibly further develop your reputation as an authority in your field, so why not go for it? On June 14^th, we generated a lot of conversation among our listeners, so WHWN decided to make this a recurring program topic for “Write Here, Write Now.” During tomorrow’s segment, Tuesday August 2^nd, we have two highly successful entrepreneurs who are going to share their stories on writing more than one book and the impact it has had on their businesses.

Heather Wilson is the President of Wilson Strategic Consulting, and she also authored the book Seeds of Freedom: Cultivating a Life that Matters. The official release for her book is September 1^st. She is now working on her second book.

Gregory Evans, once known as the World’s Number One computer hacker, founded National Cyber Security. He has written eight (8) books! Each one discusses different aspects of high-tech security issues.

Share Your “Better System” With the World!

It is safe to argue that there are no new ideas or topics for books. A differing perspective is what gives traditional themes and storylines a twist. People write books because they believe they have a better approach to a process, program, presentation, or situation. Their better system emerges from their unique perspective of the world and what they do.

This edition of “Write Here, Write Now” provides a look into the ideas and visions of two individuals. Brent Sampson, founder, CEO, and Chief Marketing Officer of Outskirts Press, created his “better system” of publishing. His business of publishing solutions resulted from his experience of frustration and turmoil when he sought to publish his manuscripts. Kelly Vandever, professional speaker and trainer, created her “better system” called Communications for Everyone. Her system is a book that provides insights into five (5) critical elements in crafting a powerful spoken presentation.

Both of these individuals have created their “better system” to help others. Sharing it with the world is their intent because it will not only provide assistance, but also avoid frustration.

Write a Book, Impact Your Career!

When you become an author, especially if it pertains to the subject matter in your field through your own insight, it strengthens your reputation as an authority in that particular field. Talk about carrying impact! Even being part of a collaborative effort among coworkers or other writers carries professional clout for each author, no matter what their part is. Whenever you author a book, it impacts your career in more ways than one.

Charles H. Green, former president of Sunrise Bank (one of the leading SBA lending banks in the U.S.), is currently a consultant for small businesses, international businesses operating in the United States, and non-profit organizations. Charles wrote The SBA Loanbook: the Complete Guide to Getting Financial Help Through the Small Business Administration. Now that this book is in its third edition, Charles explains to us how this book has impacted his career, not only as a writer, but in his consulting business as well.

Jim Hogan, one of the collaborators in writing Improv to Improve Your Business: Using the Principles of Improvisation to Foster Communication, Creativity & Innovation, brought him the opportunity for a new career. He will describe to us what this book provided him in finding a new career as well as becoming a co-author.

Think about all of the writing involved in everyday situations. Whether it is content on your favorite website, the words of a book, reading a blog, surfing Facebook, browsing Twitter, or some other form of media, writing is everywhere. Thankfully, there are writers who know how to keep producing creative content to keep the ever-changing world of writing interesting. On Tuesday, July 5^th, “Write Here, Write Now” interviews two writers who share their thoughts on creative writing. Write Choice Services’ Betsy Rhame-Minor, freelance writer and editor, favors creative nonfiction when she turns to book writing. Betsy is experienced in several fields of writing, including marketing. Hear her thoughts on how creative writing is important in nonfiction.

Sales representative and IT Whiz, Russ Chapman, escapes the world of IT through writing fiction and humor by adding comical twists of biographical nature. The question here is, “How much creativity is ‘allowed’ in creative nonfiction before it becomes fiction?” How much reality is required to be present in fiction in order for it to be believable? During today’s show, we’ll ask our experts what motivates their writing and what they believe the boundaries in creative writing are.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with our show on Atlanta Business Radio X, “Write Here, Write Now,” here are the details:

Every Tuesday morning at 10:00am EST, Tim Morrison, the President and Owner of Write Choice Services, Inc., hosts interviews with guests who are looking to write, are in the process of writing, or have already published a book. Each week, the show covers a small area of writing, either in genre or a certain time aspect pertaining to when an author decides to write.

The segment of this week’s show focuses on writers who chose to write a book while in retirement. After retiring from their traditional careers, authors Cathy Horvath and Ray Atkins prove successful in producing publishable writing. Cathy gathered life lessons and favorite recipes and compiled them all into a creative book, Recipes for Life . . . Food for the Body and Nourishment for the Soul. Ray published his first book, Front Porch Prophet, in 2008 and published a second book, Sorrow Wood, in 2009. Learn how these writers began the process and how a lifetime of experience enriched their writing and provided the heart of their books.
